Website Design Cheltenham has relaunched the Health Direct site.

Website Design Cheltenham has relaunched the Health Direct site.Website Design in Cheltenham has moved the Health Direct website from one server to a new superfast UK server and updated the content, security and functionality at the same time.

Also part of the brief was to improve the search engine optimisation of the site. Which was quite a feat as the site has nearly 3,000 pages of content stretching back to 2004.

Simon Dye of Website Design Cheltenham said “The really tricky part of the process was the sheer size of the site. In terms of size the files totalled nearly half a gigabite. As servers and wordpress have strict limits on the size of data files that can be transfered and used we had to raise variuos limits to accommodate the whole site.”

Health Direct provides news, advice and information on the NHS,  the National Health Service.

Unless you have a high profile brand name the bad news is that people will only be typing their keyword needs into a search engine to find your website.

The good news is that if you research those keywords and focus on them with optimised content then people may well find your website.

This important session at the University details the key elements of Google’s ranking algorithm. If there is one part of the lecture you watch THIS IS IT!

It details the importance of meta titles, meta descriptions and links in how Google ranks you.

Don’t know what meta titles are? Then think of an iceberg with the bit above the water line as the part you see in your browser. Then think of all of the content below the waterline- that’s the importance of a website’s source code- and the important stuff that Google and browsers look at.

Getting this part is the most important thing that you can do. And the most cost effective marketing method.

Contrary to some people’s misguided thoughts- SEO is a science. It is a repeatable process that can be used for any subect- beit promoting blue widget maufacturers to selling quails or coffee.

It is “white hat”- if done ethically and following Google’s algorythms and strictures.

It may not be a “quick win” as some sites require considerable repairs to make them meet these requirements. But with patience and diligence success can be achieved.
